Public Speaking
Final Task:
Create a political party, and get elected by your classmates
Introduction
Watch this tutorial video on Public Speaking. Take notes of the tips proposed on how to give a confident speech.

Get Started
- Form teams of 3-4 students.

- Create a political party to win the next election of your country. (Canada)

- Give it a name

- Decide on each and everyone's role in the party (members of your Cabinet):
- Prime minister
- 2-3 other ministers. Ideas: Minister of environment, immigration, finance, education, health...

- Brainstorm on ideas you want to put forward in your party. Each minister should gather ideas for his/her own ministry. The Prime Minister should discuss ideas for all other ministries (those not selected by teammates)

Doing
- Each minister prepares a 1 minute speech in which he/she will try to convince the electorate that his party offers the best option in his field, and that he/she is the best person to lead them.

- Political parties will present their candidates and their plan for the country by giving their speech in front of the class. There could be a question period...

Evaluation: your speech will be evaluated on the tips presented in the video "Public Speaking for Beginners".
(Note: it is OKAY to read your speech as long as you have practiced it)

Timeframe: presentations are NEXT CLASS.

Debriefing
- The class will hold an election.
- The winners will get 5 extra points for this semester mark.
